Things to Know Before you Go
Currency Used:
United States Dollar USD
Main Methods of Payment:
All major credit cards are accepted but we highly suggest that you keep some cash on hand as there are many local businesses that prefer cash payments
Sales Tax/ GST:
6.45%
General Climate:
Zion has a cold dessert system which leads to very hot summer days and cold nights along with very cold winters overall. The area gets very little rainfall compared to other cities. We HIGHLY recommend packing layers for when you are out and about.
Getting Around the City:
You will need a car. The vastness of the area makes cell phone reception in some areas sketchy and not reliable so we recommend you rent a vehicle to ensure that you are never without your own transport.
Electronic Appliance Support:
120 volts
Safety:
While the park itself is not high on crime, there have been many reports of hikers and visitors getting lost. We strongly urge that you practice caution and use good travel practices when planning to venture out into the park. If you are traveling alone please let someone know where you are at all times to ensure your safety. The area around the park is mostly desert and can be overwhelming at night.
Cultural Norms:
You will see TONS of hikers! It is a stunning park land with lots too see! The locals are helpful and very friendly. They are used to the crowds. When you visit one of the local eateries be prepared to wait for your food, there is ALWAYS a crowd.
