We can wax poetic about this beautiful getaway forever.

Almost everyone has heard of, and many have been lucky enough to experience the stunning waters, great hospitality, beautiful natural wonders and great local food.

The icing on this vacation cake is when you have an opportunity to stay at a resort that gives you access to all of the above.

We were fortunate enough to stay at the gorgeous Wailea Beach Resort- Marriott, Maui.

We hope EVERYONE has a chance to experience the beauty of Maui and that we can entice you to make Maui a contender for your next vacation destination.

Here is a glimpse at our recent stay at this stunning resort

The Hotel and Our Welcome

When we arrived, there was a lovely member of their arrivals team waiting to greet us and find our reservation.
Since Aamir is a Bonvoy Gold Member, we were taken out of line and checked in privately.
It was a nice touch and really made us feel special. We were given some warm towels, his and her lei’s as well as the local favorite POG (passion fruit, orange and guava).

We were given a map as well as an overview of the entire property. It was nice to have someone sit down and really go over the amenities within the resort.
Often when there is such a huge property, it can be overwhelming for a guest. The map and guidance was welcome and ensured that we didn’t miss out on amenities. Throughout our stay we also noticed that all the hotel employees were all helpful in guiding us if we ever got lost (not that we would ever admit it)

Shout out to Janice for being a star and giving us a great welcome!

The Room

We were given a stunning room with an ocean view above one of the 4 (yes 4) pools on the property.

The nice part was we were over the adults only serenity pool, which insured us a nice relaxing ambiance even during the day.

The Marriott had reached out to Aamir about a week before our trip to ask our flight details as well as any special occasion that we were celebrating.

Aamir provided them with our info as well as the fact that we were celebrating our tenth (we know, time flies when you’re having fun) wedding anniversary. That was the main reason for this entire trip.

When we entered the room on the first day, we were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail.

The hotel went above and beyond with the beautiful orchid floral décor as well as the  personalized pillow cover the hotel had made for us.

We were soo touched by these gestures.

It is the small things like this that ensure a great start to a special vacation

The room itself was light and airy with some stunning natural light and of course a view that was priceless.

When you visit, we would recommend spending a bit more to get an ocean view.

The room was not a suite but still had room to walk around as well as a small sitting area.

In comparison to a king room in say, Paris or Amsterdam this was definitely spacious.

The Bathroom

Aamir gave the bathroom a 7 on 10.

Size wise it was a little small but I guess they made up for the size in the sitting area.

Aamir is a bathroom snob.

It’s true. No judgement.

Whenever he is traveling solo, one of the first pictures he will send me is of the bathroom. I could publish a coffee table book with just bathroom photos (hmm… maybe in the future?)

Anyways, safe to say he is a connoisseur of all things bathing. That being said this bathroom was nice, nothing extra ordinary but nice.

The shower with its rain shower top and hand held shower was my favorite. A long day at the beach followed by a nice shower with ample pressure and hot water is my personal idea of heaven.

I LOVED that there was a full-length mirror.

It was nice to see a head to toe final look before I sashayed off into the sunset (more likely I was walking to get a taco but let’s keep the original image).

The Resort Amenities

One of the main attractions for most guest when booking a resort is all the fun you can have without leaving the property.

Safe to say, the Wailea Beach Resort has not skimped on things to do.

The property is large, as in 22 acres large, so be prepared to walk.

With 4 pools and a short 10 min walk to the private beach it’s a great find for someone who just wants to chill.

We suggest that when you plan your actual activies, plan a day to just hang out on the property

We had soo many activities planned for our entire trip that the ONE thing I regret is NOT being able to spend a full day within the resort.

There really is no shortage of fun things to do, from a movie theater, arcade, game room and even an escape room.

If you are into the pampering and relaxtion mode you can always splurge on a fabulous facial or relaxing massage at the spa.

Make sure you have a chance to really absorb all the amenities the Wailea has worked soo hard to provide for its’ guest.

(not to mention getting the full value of your resort fee)

The Pools

Aamir being an adult child, also loved the pool with the slides.

He’s not the only one.

The slide is one of the largest on the island and is enjoyed by both kids and adults.

There is also a family infinity pool which also had beautiful oceans views and

my personal favorite, a jet spa with delicious hot water.

Soo relaxing.

I “discovered” this pool towards the end of our stay and next time this will most likely be my preferred pool.

The pool we used the most was the serenity adult pool.

It was right below our room so the convenience was a huge plus for us.

The view of the ocean was stunning (infinity edge, yes please)

This pool is adults only so everyone there was enjoying the sun and just relaxing. This is definitely the pool to go at to see and be seen. No one is actually swimming, you see the guests enjoying the water with more of a fashionable sway and sashay in the water.

With a beverage of course.

Cabanas and Lounges

DSCF0776-scaled

Pricy … like super pricey

When you look at the hotel site and are enticed by the pool shots, you are most likely looking at images from the floating cabanas.

They are just as beautiful in real life; they are also expensive.

Like $450 per day expensive.

If you are planning to spend an entire day at the pool and really utilize the area then maybe, just maybe it would be worth it.

The average person spends a few hours at the pool and that is a steep price for a few hours.

They have other private lounge options; we personally did not avail any because there are so many free loungers available with great views and honestly, we didn’t spend more than an hour at the pools.

We did have a card upon arrival that showed we are eligible for a 10 percent discount on the cabanas but it’s still expensive.

Poolside Service

DSCF0820-scaled

We had heard many mixed reviews about the service at the poolside.

Aamir is a diehard fan of The Points Guy and always makes a point (no pun intended) to read his reviews before we travel.

He has stated in his review of this resort that the service was lack luster poolside.

So, we went to lounge with very average expectations

We were pleasantly surprised

We were greeted as soon as we settled into our loungers and were asked if we would like to order anything.

I spent the next 4 days going at least once to the serenity pool just to have the virgin pina coladas.

They were delicious and fortunately we were always given great service.

I would like to think that the management took note of the previous reviews and made changes.

Hotel Dining

DSCF0796-scaled

We ended up spending a whopping $90 for a lack luster breakfast

We were extremely disappointed as there are soo many cute breakfast places around the island that we could have gone to and spent half of what we did in the hotel.

The next time we go we will pass on the in-house breakfast options.

Save yourself some valuable money and go off property to one of the many local eateries.

We only ate breakfast once at the Humble Kitchen and to be honest we were very underwhelmed. The best thing about the entire experience was the view we had from our table.

The buffet food selection was average, the taste ok and the cost per person was not justified.

We also did not know that coffee was not included in the cost of the buffet (a bit strange) and we ended up spending $16 on two cappuccinos (there is a Starbucks right around the corner and we could have gotten the same thing at a fraction of the cost).

Overall Service and Final Thoughts

This is where the resort honestly shines in our opinion.

Maybe it’s the fact that you are in Maui, the air, the feel of Aloha.. who knows? all we can say is we LOVED it!

Everyone was always smiling.

Not that I’m complaining.

It was great to see people who looked like they genuinely enjoyed their respective jobs.

When we were walking through the resort either to the beach or to our car every hotel staff member that passed us has a smile and would say Aloha which automatically made us smile.

Small gestures that really made a difference in our stay.

This is a great resort and great location if you want access to clear stunning waters.

It’s also great because one of the islands’ highest rated luaus is held right on this property (we have an article about that experience soon to come).

The amenities are plentiful and all worth the daily resort fee. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny as this is not a cheap resort by any means.

  1. This looks like a fabulous place to stay! I love the welcome with the swans and flowers! Definitely adding this to my list when we go!

It was AAmazing! and yes, the swans were soo pretty.. it almost hurt to use them 🙂

  2. I’ve been to this Marriott for a Luau before, and I thought it was gorgeous, it’s so nice to see it from the inside as well. What a beautiful place to stay on a lovely island!

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Yess!! we did the Luau here as well, it was soo nice to be on site for it. Im glad we were able to give you a sneak peek at the actual hotel <3

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Thank you for the appreciation and enjoying the post. My adult child did not want to get off the slides lol.

  3. This place looks amazing. I love Hawaii. I went for the first time last year and can’t wait to go back. It was so nice how the hotel went all out on the personal touches, very nice. Also, love the pool selfies, you guys are adorable 🙂

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

It really was a life changing experience. We are itching to go back ASAP to enjoy the beaches. It felt like time flew by! And thank you for the love! selfies really are an art lol.

  4. Looks amazing! We were super lucky in that we got to stay at my aunt and uncle’s condo when we were on Maui, but it did bum me out a little that we didn’t get to check out any amazing hotels like this!

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Its always nice to have a good hookup when it comes to pricey places like Maui so thats awesome! The resorts and hotels are very tempting too and yes, next time your on the islands you should for sure explore these stunning properties. The resorts have soo many amenities that for us, it was worth the expense. We hope you get a chance to head back to island soon 🙂

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

They really did! It was such a beautiful location and the overall vibe was luxurious but not pretentious at all. Sigh. If only we had known this would be our last trip pre-covid. 🙂

  5. I love the Marriott brand and I’m also a member. I stay at one wherever I travel if I can. I love that this one has a private adult pool for peace and quiet but i can tell you now, there’s not a chance that i would spend $450 on a cabana lol

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

The BonVoy group has some great properties around the world! We were decideing between this and the Ritz Maui but this resort was newly renovated and we LOVED the surrounding area. And the Cabanas lol yeah.. we ended up spending around 500 on a helicopter ride which we felt was a much better value 🙂

  6. I am so envious of that hotel room and view!!!!!!! I’m the same as you – when we spend time at a really nice place I don’t want to leave the resort! Shame about the breakfast but good to know for next time!

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Yesss, the room really was a treat 🙂 We are missing it soo much now more than ever since we are bunkered down at home. The breakfast was bleh but there are soo many cute options around the island so fingers crossed next time we go, we can share those experiences.

  7. I miss Maui. I spent a week there and would love to back. The resort you are stayed in is so beautiful! Fantastic amenities, perfect for dream holidays.

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Same! We miss Maui too.. There is still so much that we could explore and see. The resort really was iyllic and we would absolutley go back. Thank you for the appreciation 🙂

  8. This hotel sure knows how to make you feel special! I’m impressed with the pillow cover customization but not so much on the looks of the bedroom, I must admit with Aamir on the rating.

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

It really was special. The nice thing though is that this type of treatment is a standard benchmark there. Showing that they care about the overall guest experience. Aamir travels a LOT for work so he has a very critical eye when it comes to aestheics. Me, I’m picky but the proximity to the beach and the view had me SOLD 🙂

  9. Wow! I felt pampered just reading this review! I can’t imagine what a wonderful experience it was to actually be there. It looks like this is a great choice in a place where luxury hotels are abundant and as you say, there is plenty to do without ever leaving the hotel! Thanks so much for sharing your very lovely experience with us!

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Thank you for the appreciation! It really was a special trip for us. We were very very satisfied with our hotel choice. Even though it was December we never felt like the staff was rushed or service was compromised at all. We are glad you enjoyed the post and hopefully we all can get some much needed pampering soon when its safe to travel again 🙂

  10. Your pictures are beautiful! I love hotels that have private pools – we don’t have any kids so it’s nice to enjoy the peace and quiet! Service is super important to me!

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

Thank you for the photo love! The private pools were for sure a bonus. We dont have children either so it was a nice feature to have options for everyone. The overall vibe of this hotel was very nice and we hardly saw any kids because the resort was massive and Im sure the kids were enjoying their amenities.

  11. This is exactly what I picture Hawaii to be. Thanks for the review – we will be visiting next year and I will add the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort as a possible stay.

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

oh man, we are soo jealous! Hawaii really is stunning! We hope you have an amazing time and yes the Wailea is a GREAT option. The area is super nice as well and for us the best part was that they have a beach that is mostly used by the guests at the Waldorf and the Wailea. They have staff on hand to lay out chairs even though its a a beach. We will be uploading more Maui specific post so we hope they can help you plan 🙂

  12. What a grand hotel with amazing facilities! It always adds up the experience when the hotel does these little things like – welcome juice, decorated rooms! And for a suite, the room does look super spacious and airy, and with a view!

    • flyeatandrepeat Reply

It was a stunning property. They have done an amazing job in the hospitality front as well. What really sold us though was the view! This room wasn’t a suite and it was still spacious. They have stunnings suites as well!
